Hoyo de Monterrey: A Brief History
Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are truly unique, if only because they are the only Cuban cigars to be named after their tobacco plantation.
The Moterrey Valley (Hoyo) plantation is located in the Vuelta Abajo region, where the best cigar tobaccos in the world are grown.
All of the tobacco leaf types that are used to make a Hoyo de Monterrey cigar are from this valley.
The Hoyo de Monterrey brand was founded by a Catalan by the name of Jose Hener –owner of the tobacco plantations- and his partner Miguel Janet, in 1865.
